In February of 1999, COB presented Metropolitan
Opera soprano Barbara Kilduff in concert at the Longy School of Music. Ms. Kilduff
sang works by Fauré, Handel, Thomas, Messager, Delibes, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and
Richard Strauss.
"Kilduff is a musical journeyman ... who's appeared at the Metropolitan, Vienna,
and Munich houses. Although she really shines in the florid, facile music of bel
canto opera, she can also negotiate Strauss and Fauré songs ... she is very well tooled
for the coloratura literature, as she demonstrated with several of the more famous arias
from that repertoire."
