In May of 1997, COB was a major supporter of Chorus
pro Musica's concert performance of opera's favorite double bill, Mascagni's Cavalleria
Rusticana, and Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. It was the first performances of the
operas in over 10 years in Boston and the audience was very happy to welcome them back.
"Rebecca O'Brian brandished a big shiny instrument and a gutsy way of going for
the climactic notes ... David Murray sang solidly and stolidly ... Wayne Rivera as Turridu
sang with clear Italian and a wide variety of vocal colors. Mark Nemeskal's
smoldering Canio held you enthralled ... soprano Allison Charney gave a huge performance
... David Murray had nice tunes to sing, which he did with sexy brio ... Great whoopings
and applause greeted both casts."
